2024 american legion essay contest winners

PRINCESS ANNE, MD (May 7, 2024) – Students of Carter G. Woodson Elementary & Crisfield Academy & High School were recently named winners of Oliver T. Beauchamp American Legion Post 94’s Americanism Essay Contest, responding to the essay prompt “What does freedom mean to you?” The Princess Anne, MD American Legion representatives announced the contest had received 73 applications from students in Elementary & Secondary grades across Somerset County from public and private school students in the 2024 contest.

Nine (9) contest winners were honored at the American Legion Post 94 at a recent awards ceremony. Students read aloud their winning essay contest submissions and received awards before enjoying a pizza party with their families.

5th Grade Honorable Mention:

5th Grade Overall:

Second Place – Ka’Brayah B.
Third Place – Kevin M.

8th Grade Overall:

First Place – Connor R.
