WESTOVER, MD (June 21, 2024) – Students from Greenwood and Carter G. Woodson Elementary Schools were recently recognized for their winning entries in the Personal Finance Poster Competition coordinated by the Maryland Council on Economic Education (MCEE). Kaden M. and Temperance C., 3rd grade students from Woodson Elementary, and Aly H., 3rd grade student from Greenwood Elementary, were honored on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at an awards ceremony at Towson University.

Julie Weaver, MCEE Executive Director shared, “The winning students from these statewide competitions should be proud of these wonderful accomplishments. They have creatively shown their understanding of personal finance and economics concepts and demonstrate how important this kind of learning is for all children.”

More than 100 elementary, middle and high school students from 55 schools across Maryland were named as winners of MCEE’s personal finance and economics games, essay contests and challenges. The competitions provide students a fun and competitive atmosphere for learning personal finance and economics, with the Personal Finance Poster Competition offering an engaging way for students to demonstrate of their understanding of economic concepts through original art.
