Somerset County Public Schools has adjusted the 2024-2025 academic calendar to account for inclement weather closures during the week of January 6 - 10, 2025, and meet state instructional requirements. The last day of school for students is now Friday, June 20, 2025.
The Somerset County Board of Education submitted a request to the Maryland State Board of Education for a waiver of one instructional day due to the number of weather-related closures this year. At its February 25, 2025, meeting, the Maryland State Board of Education approved a waiver for Somerset County Public Schools, reducing the required instructional days from 180 to 179 for the current school year.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we balance the need to provide all students with the required instructional time while adhering to state regulations for waiver requests. The updated academic calendar is now available on all school and system websites.
