Mission Statement

We improve the lives of every student and customer we serve by providing healthy, appetizing and nutritious meals all while providing excellent customer service to everyone we come in contact with.

Vision Statement

Somerset County Public Schools Food & Nutrition Department will strive to set the standard in student dining by being responsive to the needs of our students, teachers and parents. We will lead the way in quality, cost, satisfaction and attention to detail in every school we serve.

Free School Meals

Since implementing the USDA's Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) in 2014, Somerset County Public Schools has served free school meals to all students regardless of income. The CEP is a component of the 2010 Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act that allows eligible schools to serve nutritious school meals, free of charge, to all students. It allows schools and school districts in low-income areas to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to enrolled students, without collecting household income applications. Schools and school districts with an Identified Student Percentage (ISP) of 40% or higher are eligible to elect CEP.

Identified students are those students who are directly certified for free meals based on their participation in other programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

To learn more about CEP visit the USDA CEP Resource Center.
