Good afternoon Woodson Wave Families, this is Liz Berry with some updates for the week. Congratulations to Mrs. Grove, 5th grade teacher. Mrs. Grove makes all her students feel welcome and comfortable in her class, and helps her students reach their full potential. In addition, congratulations to our Intervention Teacher, Mrs. Austen. Mrs. Austen is always willing to help where it is needed. Congratulations to our students of the week Madison Cook in 5th grade and Marc’quan Darden in 2nd grade. Madison is an amazing helper and looks out for the wellbeing of her classmates. Marc’quan Darden follows the rules and is respectful in the classroom. Way to go!
Woodson Elementary Students and Staff would like to thank all of the Veterans for your service to our country. Your contribution is great and we appreciate your dedication to our nation.
This week, we will celebrate American Education Week. Families can visit from the hours of 9:00 am through 3:00 pm. Please make sure you check-in in the front office and you have your driver’s license or government ID to run through our Navigate 360 system. If you do not have your ID, you will not be permitted to enter the building. We have designated days for different grades and they are as follows; PreK3, PreK4, and K will be Monday, November 13th, 5th grade will be Tuesday the 14th, 4th grade will be Wednesday the 15th, 3rd grade will be Thursday the 16th with their exhibition being held at 2:00 pm in the cafeteria, 2nd grade and 1st grade will be on Friday, the 17th, with 2nd grade having their exhibition at 9:00 am and 1st grade having their exhibition at 2:30 pm. If you have multiple children, we understand and you may visit each of their classes. Please be mindful if you visit a classroom, please keep your phone on silent and if you need to take a call, please step out in the hall to take your call. In addition, please be mindful that when you visit a classroom and you would like to set up a conference, please do so. Please do not try to go up to the teacher and have a conference while they are trying to teach their class.
Quarter 1 Report Cards will be distributed this Friday, November 17th. Please be on the lookout for them and check your child’s book-bag.
Fourth graders will be going to Jamestown, VA on Friday, Nov. 17th. All fourth grade students attending must arrive at the school at 6:30 am. We will be departing no later than 6:45 am so if you are not at the school by that time, there is a chance you will be left and not able to attend. The cost of the field trip is free for students. We will be arriving back to school around 6:00 pm that evening. If there are any questions, please call your child's fourth grade teacher.
Our book fair will be taking place in the Media Center this week. Fliers were sent home. Our fair will start Monday the 13th and run through Friday the 17th. All students will be given the chance to walk through the book fair on Monday during their specials class. Otherwise, students may only come to the book fair only if they have money during their specials class, with a parent or guardian, or during the morning. Students who come to the library straight from the bus will be sent back to class. No book bags will be allowed in the book fair. Thank you to Mrs. Spencer, our Media Specialist for putting this together.
Friday, November 17th will be a Woodson Spirit day and students can wear their house shirts or WES spirit shirt with uniform bottoms only.
Thank you for taking the time to review this message and have a good evening.
