Good evening Woodson Wave Families, this is Liz Berry with some updates for the coming week. Congratulations to our Staff Member of the Week, Mrs. Joanne Evans in Kindergarten. She supports all of her students and ensures that their families have access to all information. She works well with her team, the paraprofessionals in her classroom, and the co-teachers who work in her room to ensure the success of her students. Congratulations to our Students of the Week, Brynasia Wallop in Kindergarten and Kaylin Tyler in 1st Grade. Brynasia always follow directions and is a good listener. Kaylin is always respectful to adults and her peers. Way to go ladies for modeling the Woodson Way!!!!
The search for the new Teacher of the Year for Woodson Elementary School has begun. Please consider nominating a phenomenal WES teacher for the Teacher of the Year. TOY nomination forms were sent home already. Please return any paper nomination forms or nominate a teacher via electronic submission by February 8th. There is a link on the county website to nominate the teacher of your choice.
We are looking forward to our first annual STEM Night this coming Thursday evening, January 25th from 5-7:00 pm. The Science Nerds will be conducting two science experiments with families. This evening you will also be able to view Science Fair Projects. Students of WES will be able to take a science kit home. Dinner will be provided.
There will be no after school tutoring the evening of Thursday, January 25th, due to STEM Night.
Friday, January 26th, will be a causal day for a Woodson Family in Need. Students must pay $1.00 and staff $2.00 to participate. Please remember to adhere to the casual day guidelines. Students may wear jeans, but they cannot have any rips, shreds, holes in them, or holes with patches behind them even if they were purchased that way. Thank you to all who have supported by dressing in casual to help these families. We have been able to help many families who have experienced loss and hardship in the community through your continued support.
Yearbooks are now available for purchase for $13 either online or at school. If you wish to pay online, please go to ybpay.lifetouch.com and enter our school code: 13191424, select your child’s name and place your order. If you wish to pay at school, yearbook forms were sent home this week with students. Please fill them out and return to your child’s teacher. Orders are due by April 15th.
Looking ahead to next week- Quarter 2 will end on Thursday, February 1st. School will be closed for all students on Friday, February 2nd, for a teacher work day.
