Good morning, Woodson Wave Families, this is Liz Berry with some updates for the week. We would like to give a huge shout out to our amazing Student Services group here at WES. It is National School Counselor’s Week and our ladies are top notch. Celebrating Mrs. Sarah Klabe, Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Kelly Townsend, Learning Support Specialist, Ms. Sherri Allen, Community School Liaison, Mrs. Julian Berard, Behavior Intervention Specialist, Ms. Stephanie Mowbray, Learning Support Assistant, and Ms. Madison Marsh, SEL. We appreciate all of the support they provide to our students and staff. They are truly a treasure and share their talents and gifts with our school daily.
This week we are celebrating our Staff Member of the Week, Mrs. Julie Laird. Mrs. Laird did an outstanding job planning and hosting the WES STEM Night. Families and students enjoyed all of the hands-on science experiments. She also helps teachers plan exciting and fun Science and Math activities throughout the year. She is a true blessing to our school. Thank you, Mrs. Laird for all that you do at WES.
Our Students of the Week for this week are Miles Locklear in Pre-K 4 and Evan Riggin in 5th Grade. Miles showed kindness by thinking of and wishing a student well who was absent from class. Evan makes Power Point presentations for Mrs. Dryden’s class on things they are learning about like letters, numbers, and shapes. He also comes to our class to read stories. The students love to see him in the hallway and wave to him. Way TO SHOW THE WOODSON WAY Miles and Evan!!!
This month, we are celebrating Black History Month and honor the contributions of African Americans throughout U.S. History. The National Theme of Black History Month for the 2024 year is “African Americans and the Arts." Our 5th Grade students will be putting on their African American Living Wax History Museum later this month. All of our students recently created artwork in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Thursday, February 8th will be our Coffee & Curriculum for 2nd grade at 9:30 am and 1st grade at 2:30 pm. Please sign up in advance.
