Ms. Myresha Bevins is keeping her student baking and busy with "Cupcake Wars" with a twist! Students in Family and Consumer Science classes had to bake, decorate, and display cupcakes using a trifold board to create a backdrop display for their cupcakes. And, the cupcakes and backdrop display had to be in sync! Thinking caps on, and baking skills challenged, each student and/or groups of students went to work! Here are the top three winners! 1st Place: Lady Bug was done by Blair 2nd Place: Dr. Suess and the Lorax by Tearra Sherlyn, Keysi, Anita 3rd Place: Flowers by G'Niya, Carleigh, and Janaye The staff voted without knowing who did what display to determine winners! Well done everyone! Such a great project!

Today the Washington Academy & High School's SADD Chapter presented a check to the Thomas family for $1021.35. Emerson had extensive brain surgery and is on the road to recovery. This total will cover the stay for the parents/family at The Believe in Tomorrow Children's House at Johns Hopkins for 34 days. SADD is extremely appreciative of Caesar's Pizza Palace in Princess Anne for ALWAYS supporting their causes! SADD also would like to thank all of the people that support them in their fundraisers, especially when your support touches the lives of community families! SADD and everyone at WAHS #JagNation wishes Emerson nothing but love and well wishes! We are pulling for you Emerson, keep up the great work that you are doing on your journey of recovery! You are one AMAZING young lady! Pictured are the Principal, Tony Bevilacqua with Kevin Thomas (Emerson's daddy) and part of the SADD crew as they present the check to Mr. Thomas! <3

IMPORTANT! SPREAD THE WORD! Fundraiser with SADD and Caesar's Pizza Palace for the Weber Family Tuesday, April 18th, 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Dine In or Take Out! SADD and Caesar's Pizza Palace are holding a fundraiser for the Weber family on Tuesday, April 18th from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will be for dine in and take out. Carter has been hospitalized for 19 days (15 days in the ICU at Children's National Hospital in DC). He has been diagnosed with necrotizing pneumonia which causes irreversible damage to the lungs. Carter, although better, has a long road ahead with follow up visits to pulmonary specialist and clinics to follow his progress. The hope is that as his lungs develop the good tissue will compensate for the permanently damaged portion of his lungs. Mother, Amanda Workman Weber, works at Princess Anne Elementary School. Unfortunately, illnesses like this create an added expense that parents were not expecting. SADD is hoping for a successful fundraiser to assist the family with some of those added expenses such as gas, meals, and other accumulated expenses. So, please join SADD and Caesar's on Tuesday, the 18th of April from 4:00 to 9:00 pm. SADD will donate their 10% and will take donations. The flyer is attached to this post and you need a flyer for your portion of the ticket to be credited to SADD. We will also have them available for you at the restaurant, so make sure to see a SADD member to get yours! If you make a donation and are writing a check, please make it out to WAHS SADD and in the memo write Carter. Also, if you are calling in a take out order PLEASE make sure to tell them it is for the SADD fundraiser. SADD appreciates your support! If you have any questions, please call the school and ask for the school nurse! Thanks again and hope to see you Tuesday at the fundraiser!
