Dear Somerset County Public Schools Community,

As we observe National Bullying Prevention Month this October, I want to emphasize our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all students. Throughout the month, our schools will engage in activities that promote kindness, respect, and unity, helping to prevent bullying and build a strong climate and culture of belonging.

A key event during this month is Unity Day, celebrated on October 16, 2024. We invite everyone to wear orange on this day to show solidarity against bullying and support for inclusion. In addition to wearing orange, students will participate in a variety of activities throughout the month of October aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the impact of bullying and the steps we can take to prevent it. Visit our system website for bullying prevention resources, and more information about Unity Day.

Please join us in these efforts by talking with your students at home and participating in our Unity Day celebration. Together, we can make Somerset County Public Schools a place where every student belongs and thrives.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tasker-Mitchell
Superintendent, Somerset County Public Schools
